BENEFITS FOR LABELS & PRODUCERS

D-Rom provides a unique opportunity for record labels and producers to expose their tracks to a worldwide subscriber base, as well as a wealth of DJs and clubs around the world. Slash your distribution costs to zero, and make money when DJs use your tracks in their own mixes.

Q: What format should I use to upload my track?
A: Please upload your track as an MP3 at 320 kbps.

Q: How much do I get paid when a DJ uses my track – is it one off or do I get paid per download?
A: You will receive a royalty fee every time a mix is downloaded that contains your track.

Q: Who will have access to my tracks?
A: Only DJs will be able to download your tracks. All our DJ members are established in their own countries and belong to reputable DJ Agencies.

Q: Can I remove my track from your website?
A: Yes, you may delete your track from our servers. However if any DJ has already downloaded your track, they may still decide to use it in a mix.

Q: ID3... what is it and how do I embed it into my tracks prior to uploading?
A: When you upload your tracks, you need to make sure that each track has an ID3 tag.

"ID3 is a metadata container most often used in conjunction with the MP3 audio file format. It allows information such as the title, artist, album, track number, or other information about the file to be stored in the file itself."

Any tracks without proper ID3 tagging will not be accepted. Don't worry though - ID3 tagging is easy and we will show you how to do it in iTunes and Windows Media Player plus there are some links for some free ID3 editing software.

iTunes:
Locate the track in your library and press 'CRTL + I' (or 'APPLE KEY + I' on OSX). You will be presented with a summary of the track information. Now click the 'Info' tab at the top and you will see this window:

iTunes Summary

You can now enter the Name & Artist (mandatory) plus you can enter other information (optional) such as composer, genre, and year. Click 'OK' to save this information. iTunes will embed the ID3 tags within the mp3 file. That's it - you're done.

Windows Media Player:
Locate the track in your library, right click and select 'Advanced Tag Editor' - you will see this window:

iTunes Info

Here you can enter the Name of the track. Click the Artist Info tab where you can enter the Artist (which are both mandatory). You can also enter other information like composer, genre, year and you can even upload album artwork. Click 'OK' to save this information. Windows Media Player will embed the ID3 tags within the mp3 file. That's it - you're done.

Alternatively you can download free ID3 Tag Editor programs that could slightly speed up this process if you have a lot of tracks to upload:

Windows - MP3Tag
OSX - MP3 ID3X
